All of our Alpine Courses are run by Andy Perkins, a British Mountain Guide based in Chamonix, France.
Whether you're wanting to trek on the glaciers, or build up to the technical ridges and faces, the Alps present a whole new set of challenges to the mountaineer. This 6-day course helps you get the most out of your first alpine season. Based in Chamonix with its host of different alpine possibilities, we'll build on your experience to date and tailor the course to your specific requirements.
Courses are flexible to suit the weather conditions, your ambitions and abilities, but typically run like this:
Day 1:Ecole de glace concentrating on footwork in crampons
Day 2:A rocky scramble to help us learn to move efficiently over moderate terrain
Day 3:A walk to a hut, looking at safe travel on glaciers and crevasse rescue on the way
Day 4:An ascent of an alpine peak using snow and rock scrambling techniques
Day 5:Rock climbing or a via ferrata
Day 6:A final day to consolidate what we've learned during the week, either with more tuition or another route climbed in a day using cable car access from the valley
Course ratio: Up to 3:1
*Please note courses need a minimum number of participants in order to run.
